Judith Geary discovered her love of historical fiction in writing classes with Orson Scott Card, who at the time was known only for his speculative fiction. Tapping history for tips on world building, Geary was hooked by the real thing.
In her other life, Geary teaches at Appalachian State University and edits for Ingalls Publishing Group. Her background is an MA in Education from George Peabody College and continued graduate work in writing, editing, literary criticism as well as a ten year involvement in a regional writers' group.
Geary is the author of Getorix. Getorix has one last opportunity to gain the respect of his father and earn welcome into the Otherworld as a man. At almost fifteen winters, he marches beside his father, a defeated Celtic leader, in the Roman triumph parade — a celebration that ends in death. To face the ordeal of death before the Romans will truly be his man-making. Instead, the gods throw him an entirely different challenge.
Getorix is a compelling tale of ancient Rome. The fully-realized characters make the past come alive for readers of any age. —Sharyn McCrumb, best-selling author of St. Dale and the Ballad Series
A superbly written novel whose author has taken great pains to be as historically accurate as possible in the little details so important to background settings and plot developments... very strongly recommended as a thoroughly captivating and intimate story of a young man... struggle with identity and pride... superbly crafted and original. —Midwest Book Review
